Most of us consider sin to be some horrible wrong-doing or evil act.
Though there is truth in that, it is not the entire truth. The definition
of sin is indeed much broader than that.
The English word "to sin" comes from the Hebrew word "chait" which means
"to miss the mark", from a time period where bow and arrow was a common
tool. Where to aim (or even not aim) not hit the target was "chait" - "to
miss". That word, translated into English is the word "to sin", and in
essence, covers anything that is not entirely on track with God's holiness.
Thus, we sin more frequently than most of us are aware.
Scary thought huh? Feeling damned, doomed and condemned? That brings us
to the subject of God's grace,
which atones or washes us clean of our sin.
