Be Still

"Be still and know that I am God."
~Psalm 46:10a

I'd rather wait until I know more about the Bible. Is that okay?

No, and here's why: Anyone you witness to is not going to need to hear you quote the Scriptures - that's not a good way to start, and you're likely to only be thought of as a religious zealot.

Start by giving them your personal testimony. How did you come to Christ? What made you turn your life over to the Lord? Did you experience something that was undeniably God's handiwork that caused you to believe? There are few things more powerful than personal testimony because it shows that it's real. Any person who hears what you've gone through will be able to better relate to you than to the Bible, at first.

Remember: We are promised in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Spirit's power will be upon us when we witness. The Spirit will give us the words to say.

And - it's okay to say "I don't know". People would rather be told "I don't know, but let me find out and get back to you" than hear a false answer given to them just because it sounds good. You don't have to have all the answers. :)
