Be Still

"Be still and know that I am God."
~Psalm 46:10a

What's the story behind the name "Be Still"?

On every page of this site, you'll find my favorite Bible verse: "Be still and know that I am God" from Psalm 46:10. I find such peace in that verse, as He tells us to just be calm - "be still" - and likewise implies that He's in control.

It took me years to learn to give up my fears to God, to let Him take over and just trust that if I obey His will and make myself available to Him to be used as His instrument, He will take care of me. Yet, we are human. I still slip and try to take matters into my own hands. Funny how things rarely come out the way I want them to when I try to make it happen myself. But I have found that God's plan is better than mine - that is undeniable. If we let Him work, we'll be amazed.

The purpose of this site is not just for comfort, as the verse might imply to you. This site, instead, is for discomfort. Evangelizing, witnessing, whatever you want to call it, is not easy work. It is not always fun work. But, it is God's will, and when we open ourselves up to His will, and let Him be God, He will do amazing things. I never thought I'd see Brett work things out between him and the Lord, and yet, I opened my heart, listened carefully, and most of all, just waited on the Lord's timing - and it worked. I'm still amazed. The way God works is something that my tiny human brain will never be able to fully comprehend.
